Very good initiative that should be obvious to everyone. Who would anyone in their right mind serve candy to diabetes patients? Reminds me of when I visited a conference on weight loss and "lunch" was a bunch of candy bars.

The evidence does not appear to be in favor of your argument. To reverse your logic: The protection of individual wealth - via Reagan's policies - did not lead to solving the poverty problem in America. It made it worse. Wealth has its own personality and power over people. And you might want to consider that the creation of this wealth is often acquired at the expense of other less "powerful" human beings. I don't think anyone would agree that this type of economic Darwinism is in the best interests of America. Lincoln - who would agree with what you are saying to some degree - nevertheless freed the slaves (although through Executive Order rather than legislation) at the expense of the wealthy. Would you argue against this action as well?

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else...You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931-2005
